Welcome to the lab of Clinton F. Stewart, PharmD
We focus on understanding and improving the use of chemotherapy drugs in infants and young children, particularly those with tumors of the central nervous system and other solid malignancies. Children are not just miniature adults, and our work helps clinicians develop effective therapies and tailor doses of these powerful drugs to fit the disease, the patient, and his or her stage of development.
Our group collaborates extensively with St. Jude clinicians and with researchers who develop mouse models of pediatric cancers. We use sophisticated analytical techniques that allow us to follow the movement and fate of drug candidates in cell culture studies and within the bloodstream and the brain in animal studies. Using these analytical results, we have developed and implemented computational modeling techniques that allow us to predict the behavior of drug molecules and test treatments more quickly and efficiently.
